PTC University Expert Model Analysis 2.3 was released on August 11, 2015.
The main new feature for this release is Grade Profiles which allows users to tune how grades are calculated from metrics analyzed by XMA.
What’s new in XMA 2.3:
- Grade Profiles
- Background:
- XMA measures and aggregates many metrics about PTC Creo and Pro/ENGINEER it scans.
- XMA then assigns grades that rate:
- How good or bad a metric is when the metric as an indication of quality, or
- How complex a metric is on a scale of low to high when the metric is an indication of complexity
- Prior to this release, XMA graded metrics based on PTC University's view of what is good vs bad, or high vs low complexity. But sometimes users have a different point of view.
- About the new Grade Profiles feature:
- Users can now tune how XMA grades metrics based on their view of what is good vs bad, or low vs high complexity.
- A company can define their own grade profile of thresholds and weights that are used to calculate each grade in XMA.
- Thresholds are used to map a metric's value such as a probability to a grade between 0 and 100%.
- Metrics graded on a scale from bad to good have thresholds defined for the boundaries between "bad and warning" and "warning and good".
- Metrics graded on a scale from low to high complexity have thresholds defined for the "low", "medium" and "high" complexity boundaries.
- Grades from the bottom level of the report are then weighted and summed to calculate the grade of its parent report.
- Thresholds are used to map a metric's value such as a probability to a grade between 0 and 100%.
- New scans will be graded with the default grade profile chosen by the user.
- The grade profile for completed scans can be changed at any time.
- The report comparison feature allows you to change the grade profiles assigned to each scan so that every scan to be compared is graded consistently.
- Background:
- Import and Export of Existing Scans
- In earlier releases, scans could be copied manually between XMA workspaces on different computers.
- Now in XMA 2.3, you can package & export a scan. This packaged export can be archived for later use and/or imported into XMA on a different computer.
Note:Additional details about Grade Profiles can be found in the attached presentation. As well, please consult the documentation included with XMA.
