Good day everyone,
Our community is all about sharing knowledge, tips, and best practices - thank you for your participation.
I have noticed many of you are blogging: you have taken the time to do the research, organize your thoughts, and create your blog; this document will provide some best practices for reaching and interacting with the right audience.
- Post Into The Right Location
This seems like a very obvious thing, but I see members posting to their personal blog space rather than within a product community. If you are blogging about a general topic, please use your personal space within PTC Community. For product-specific content, posting within a product community will put your blog in front of an interested audience: this will give you more views and comments.
- Learned Blogging Best Practices
Last year I managed a blogging pilot within the Windchill space and thanks to the big brains of Johan LangGary JacksonCraig Pater& Bjoern Saupp, the content was excellent. Best practices we took away are:
- Open your blog with an attention grabbing headline
- Links are ok - too many are bad; diagrams, screenshots, and videos are better
- Keeping the tone at a high level invites discussion
- Think appetizer, not entree
- Splitting a topic into multiple parts can be helpful
- Close by asking for comments and welcoming questions
I hope this is helpful!
For those who are blogging: thanks again for the knowledge and tips, please keep them coming.
For those who are thinking about it, but have not published: go for it.
I look forward to your questions, thoughts, and feedback.
Best,
Toby
